Jaeger-LeCoultre introduced its Rendez-Vous collection of luxurious ladies’ timepieces in 2012. At SIHH 2017 in January, several new models will join the collection, among them a new moon-phase watch, a watch with a chiming “reminder” alarm function, and versions of the existing Night & Day model with a larger case sizes, a new case material, and a variety of new strap options.
The new Rendez-Vous Night & Day Large model has a case diameter of 38.2 mm (as compared to that of the existing Rendez-Vous, now called Rendez-Vous Medium, which is 34 mm). The Night & Day watches in both sizes have elliptical, grained-texture dials with guilloché centers and floral-shaped hands. Powered by JLC’s automatic Caliber 898, the watches feature a day-night indicator in an semicircular window above the 6 o’clock position. There are two stainless steel models, one on a light blue ostrich leather strap, the other on a steel link bracelet; and a rose-gold model, with a brilliant-diamond-set bezel, on a pink ostrich strap.

One new version of the Rendez-Vous Night & Day Medium is also debuting, marking the first time yellow gold appears as a material in this collection. The 34-mm yellow gold case pairs with a pibnk ostrich leather strap with a folding buckle. All Jaeger-LeCoultre’s Night & Day watches are also equipped with an interchangeable strap system, which allows the wearer to change bracelets and straps without the need for a tool.

The final new Large model is the Rendez-Vous Sonatina Large, which comes in the same 38.2-mm case as the Night & Day but contains an all-new movement with a new, added function. In addition to the night and day display at 6 o’clock, the Sonatina includes a chiming “reminder” indication, which uses a tiny hammer to strike at an appointed hour — set by the movable star on the periphery of the dial, which is operated by the top crown — producing a delicate, tinkling sound to remind the wearer of an event. (“Sonatina” is a musical term for a short melody.) The movement is Jaeger-LeCoultre’s Caliber 935, made entirely in-house at the brand’s manufacturein the Swiss Vallée de Joux, has automatic winding and a 40-hour power reserve. The watch is available in a rose gold case, with a diamond-set bezel, silvered guilloché dial, and pink alligator strap. JLC says that a version in white gold, with an amethyst-colored guilloché-and-grained dial and diamond-set bezel and lugs, will also be introduced.

The other new complication in the collection is a moon-phase watch, the Rendez-Vous Moon Medium, with a 34-mm-diameter case in stainless steel or rose gold and powered by Jaeger-LeCoultre manufacture Caliber 935A, an automatic with 267 parts (including 42 jewels) and a 40-hour power reserve. The grained and silvered guilloché dial has as its signature attraction a large and very precise moon-phase display, with a sandy-finish moon disk that imparts an attractive sense of depth. According to JLC, the moon-phase indication’s accuracy lags by only one day every 985 years. The bezel is set with diamonds. Leather and ostrich straps are available, as is a stainless steel or rose gold bracelet. Prices for the Jaeger-LeCoultre Rendez-Vous watches will be announced at SIHH 2017.
