The volume required to house the tourbillon mechanism was generated by incorporating a sapphire crystal dome into the back of the timepiece. This way, Greubel Forsey had not to sacrifice the timepiece’s pure, elegant lines.

Over and above its showcase function, the sapphire dome captures luminosity and channels it into the interior of the timepiece, allowing the tourbillon to be viewed through a veritable stream of light.

The front and back curved tourbillon bridges are accurately polished by hand to obtain a perfectly regular reflection over the whole piece. Each bridge finished in this way is signed by the craftsman-decorator who executed it.

The multi-level gold dials feature engraved indexes (or gold appliqués depending on the version) filled with grand feu (champlevé) enamel.

The hour, minute and small seconds hands are made of polished steel, which is blued in some of the versions. The countersinks are meticulously polished by hand.

Beating at 21,600 vibrations per hour, the movement guarantees a power reserve of 72 hours thanks to two series-coupled fast rotating barrels (1 turn in 3.2 hours), one of which is equipped with a slipping spring to avoid excess tension. State-of-the-art finishing can be appreciated through the transparent case back.
