In 2016, the Le Locle-based brand unveiled the V-40, the latest evolution of the renowned hand-wound movement.The first two pieces come with a black velours or grained beige dial with pink indices.First introduced in 1947, Vulcain’s Cricket alarm calibre has a place in the history of watchmaking.

Thanks to a longer mainspring and the reduced diameter of the barrel-arbor, the power reserve of the V-40 has been increased by 10 hours, from 42 to 52 hours.

In the past, all timepieces equipped with a Cricket movement had four central hands (hour, minute, seconds and alarm). The new V-40 made it possible to redesign them with the seconds counter at 8 o’clock and the alarm counter at 4 o’clock.

Together with the introduction of the new manufacture movement, Vulcain presented four new references of its iconic 50s Presidents’ Watch Tradition offering a choice of colours and finishes.

Two additional models, in a choice of silver or ruthenium-plated versions, are characterised by a clous-de-paris central section and a sunray edge.

The case back shows the 2,5 Hz (18,000 vph) movement with its double barrel, nickel coating, blued screws, and skeleton ratchets.

The 316L surgical stainless steel case of the 50s Presidents’ Watch Tradition has a diameter of 42.00 mm with a thickness of 12.40 mm including the dome-shaped sapphire crystal.
